What was your first thought after winning TARC 19?

My first thought after winning TARC 19 was: “How did we manage to pull this off?” There were so many other talented teams at TARC 19, many of which were likely mostly upperclassmen, and we, a team of mostly freshmen, managed to win. We also had the disadvantage of having many launches cancelled during our launch season due to bad weather.

What do you think the world will look like in 2050?

I think that things like smart technology will be more common throughout the world, and world poverty will be significantly reduced, however, I do believe that the geography of the world will be altered by human effects on the planet, and the land area of the earth will be reduced.

What are you most excited to see in Paris?

This is my first visit to Paris, so just being in the city is very exciting for me, but I am probably most excited to see the Louvre and the Catacombs.

How does it feel to represent the US on the International Stage?

It is a huge honor for me to get the chance to represent my country on the international stage, however, I am slightly nervous as well, as if I accidentally say something wrong, the reputation of my school and my club could be badly hurt, something I would never want to happen.

What advice do you have for future students interested in TARC?

The main piece of advice I have for future TARC students is to practice launching your rockets many times and be able to dial the flights down to your target goal. Also be prepared to have the rocket launch to different heights as well, as for your second flight, if you get one, the target altitude may be different.

Are you more excited for Cheese, Bread, Croissants, or another food in Paris???

I am probably most excited for the cheese in France, as I studied the processes that are used to make cheese in Science Olympiad this year.
