Congratulations to all of the finalists participating in this year’s American Rocketry Challenge.
The American Rocketry Challenge is a reminder of the importance of empowering students like you who are exploring the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. America’s young scientists and engineers are on the frontlines of expanding our understanding of the world around us. It is through your grit, ingenuity, and curiosity that we will solve the toughest challenges that humanity faces—and will face—in the years ahead.
By using your knowledge, skill, and innovation to design, build, and launch model rockets, not only are you cultivating your minds and building friendships, you are also well on your way to helping our Nation reach new heights. The model rockets you designed and built are precursors of your bright futures. Your generation will be helping to launch new satellites into orbit, send our astronauts back to the Moon to live and work, and pave the way for humans to land on the surface of Mars.
Know that you are truly making your communities—and our country—proud of all that you have accomplished as part of this challenge. I applaud your hard work, and I am grateful for your commitment to solving tough challenges and making the impossible possible. Always remember that, even at your young age, you have the power to change the world.
Jill and I send our best wishes to all of you who have gathered for the finals of this unique competition. We know how hard you have worked to get to this moment; keep up the great work.
