Advocate Staff Report
GOLIAD - The Goliad High School Rocketry Team, which has qualified for the Team America Rocketry Challenge Finals, is raising money to help finance its trip.
Team members will be waiting tables for tips today and Wednesday from 5-9 p.m. at Jorgie's Pizzeria. All tips will be donated to the trip fund. There will also be bake sale items available as part of the fundraiser. The restaurant is at 741 W. Pearl St.
On Friday, Blue Quail Deli is hosting a "Rocket Wrap Launch" lunch fundraiser. The meal will be grilled chicken breast, lettuce, tomato, cheese and ranch dressing wrapped in a tortilla and will include a pickle and chips for $6. Rocketry team members will also be working at the deli at 224 S. Commercial St. during the fundraiser.
On Saturday the Rocketry Team will also have a bake sale booth during Goliad Market Days.
Only the top 100 teams out of 678 competitors advanced to the finals near Washington, D.C., on May 20. Goliad is one of seven teams from Texas in the finals.
